What Size Hole Saw For Round Electrical Box

What size hole saw would I use to cut a pigsty for an old-piece of work ceiling electrical box (for a light)?

I have this former work electrical box which I want to install into the ceiling for a light socket. I desire to become the right hole saw so I can install it correctly. What size should I get? Measuring the front of it would be too large, just measuring the back also would exist likewise small since I need to be able to get the tabs through.

That box requires a 4" hole saw. Then just smack the fins in the drywall. Makes a very good and tight fit in the drywall. Alternatively, trace with a pencil and cutting with a keyhole saw.

Exactly what this guy said

Get a drywall saw and utilize it for everything rather then buying a 4" pigsty saw that you volition utilise in one case and that costs more then said drywall saw

I take this dorsum if your drilling through forest or literally annihilation else then drywall

It's 4& 1/8". Or you could get a 4" hole saw and fucking fight with the box every time

Nice mouth. I bet you talk like this in front of your mother, wife, and children.

I trace the bottom and account for the tabs. Oscillating saw or drywall saw is the mode to become.

You'd go a inexpensive kit anyway for just drywall and it should at least accept a four" inch there which would work with some tweaking.

That cut-im box is not fun. There are a few other bumps in that design. Long story brusk, it will non fit a perfect circle. You have to shave the profile into the shape under the lip later on you lot cut your hole. You're meliorate off using a cut in box with a solid metal bracket and center screw. Note that both of these boxes aren't rated to hold much weight.

Besides three 5/eight" for a 3-0 box

4 1/four" for a 4-0.

My plan for this box is to hold a light socket, so it's not going to exist a very heavy fixture.

4" hole saw. They cut somewhat sloppily and end up being more than like 4 one/8". Make sure you know where the joists are...

I did, but information technology gave me iv ane/8" which isn't exactly a standard size which makes me concerned I measured wrong. Isn't at that place a standard size foe these?
